About Non-Surgical Treatments
As you age, collagen and elastin–proteins that help your skin maintain its structure–naturally decline, resulting in wrinkles, sun spots, acne scars, and hyperpigmentation. Sagging skin and volume loss can also affect how you feel about your appearance. Non-surgical treatments can address these issues to rejuvenate the skin and reduce signs of aging.
Many patients opt for non-surgical solutions to address multiple skin concerns during a single appointment. In 2023, specialists performed more than 25.4 million minimally invasive treatments to help patients improve their appearance. (1)
Nonsurgical treatments can help you:
- Prevent fine lines and wrinkles
- Restore volume to your skin
- Resurface your skin
- Diminish hyperpigmentation
- Remove unwanted tattoos
- Lift loose skin
Neuromodulators
Repetitive facial expressions can wear on the skin, resulting in fine lines that can develop into permanent wrinkles. Specialists performed more than 4.7 million neuromodulator treatments in 2023 to help patients prevent signs of facial aging. (1) We offer Botox and Xeomin, which both relax the muscles to prevent signs of aging. Dr. Dolen can administer the formula directly into the muscle to reduce repetitive muscle movements and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
Botox vs. Xeomin
Xeomin is purified with patented XTRACT Technology™ (2), which removes complex proteins to reduce the risk of skin irritation and reactions. (3) If you have sensitive skin or are prone to skin irritation, the formula can prevent fine lines and wrinkles for patients who have sensitive skin.
During your consultation, Dr. Dolen can discuss the best treatment for you based on your medical history.
Soft Tissue Fillers
Juvéderm
Juvéderm is a collection of soft tissue fillers that restore volume to the skin and diminish wrinkles. These injectables contain hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance that provides volume and hydration. It is formulated with Vycross technology, a cross-linked gel that distributes itself evenly beneath the skin for long-lasting and natural-looking volume.
Skinvive
Skinvive™ by Juvéderm moisturizes the skin with fast-absorbing microdroplets that deliver long-lasting hydration. If you have dry skin or fine lines, this treatment can effectively reduce them for a smoother complexion. Dry skin can lead to wrinkles later in life (4), and treating your skin with Skinvive™ is a form of preventative care against signs of aging.
Pixel 8 RF Microneedling
Pixel 8 RF Microneedling can address acne scars, mild skin laxity, and hyperpigmentation on the face, neck, and hands. It resurfaces the skin and stimulates collagen production to improve the appearance of the skin for a smoother appearance. During the treatment, Dr. Dolen will use a hand-held device to penetrate the skin with radiofrequency. The heat generated by the device will stimulate collagen production over time.
Although this treatment does not require significant downtime, it is normal to experience temporary redness and puffiness afterward. You should avoid excessive sun exposure and wearing makeup for approximately 72 hours. Over the next 3-6 months, you can continue to enjoy improvements in your skin as the collagen helps your skin repair itself. Dr. Dolen recommends at least 3 treatments performed every 4-6 weeks to obtain the maximum results.
Lasers

Laser treatments can remove tattoos and pigmentation. They can also resurface the skin to reduce signs of aging. In 2023, specialists performed more than 3.1 million laser treatments to help patients improve their appearance. (1)
Q Switch Laser
Tattoo removal is a non-invasive cosmetic treatment that removes tattoo ink from the skin. When you receive a tattoo, the ink is deposited into your skin and remains there permanently. The Q Switch Laser targets the darker pigment of ink in your skin and breaks it down so it can be absorbed by the body.
After tattoo removal, you will likely notice some inflammation in the treatment area, colloquially known as “frosting.” This natural reaction to the Q Switch laser typically improves over the next 24 hours. Dr. Dolen can provide a petroleum jelly-based topical ointment for you to apply to your skin. Over the next several weeks, the pigment will gradually disappear as it is absorbed by your body. It is important that you avoid sun exposure and stay hydrated to help your body process the pigment.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
IPL therapy can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, acne scars, age spots, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation with broad-spectrum light waves that stimulate collagen production. With IPL therapy, Dr. Dolen can administer powerful beams of light energy to address multiple skin concerns during one appointment. In a recent study, patients treated with IPL enjoyed an 80-90% improvement in the appearance of vascular lesions. (5)
Er:YAG Laser
The Er:YAG laser is a skin resurfacing treatment that can improve the appearance of various skin conditions. Aging and sun exposure can affect your skin’s elasticity and result in pigmentation changes. Unlike some other laser treatments, which penetrate the deeper layers of your skin, the Er:YAG laser depth is highly customizable to more precisely address skin concerns. It helps to resurface your skin and provides a more rejuvenated appearance.
Candidates & Consultation
If you wish to rejuvenate your skin, and/or remove tattoos, you are likely a good candidate for a non-surgical treatment at Dr. Dolen’s office. Non-surgical treatments are ideal for busy patients looking for an effective treatment with minimal downtime.
During your consultation, Dr. Dolen will ask about your medical history, current medications, and aesthetic goals to determine the best treatment for your needs. Dr. Dolen will recommend a treatment based on your Fitzpatrick skin type and skin condition.
Preparation

The steps you need to take to prepare for non-surgical treatments will depend on your treatment plan. However, Dr. Dolen recommends that all patients refrain from excessive sun exposure, which could potentially damage their skin and delay their treatment. It is important that you take good care of your skin in the weeks leading up to your procedure. Dr. Dolen will provide you with a post-procedure kit including medical grade skin care. If you experience a breakout, an infection, or sun damage in the treatment area, Dr. Dolen will likely need to delay your appointment until your skin heals.
The Cost of Non-Surgical Treatments
The cost of non-surgical treatments will depend on your personalized treatment plan and whether you need additional treatments to achieve your goals. Dr. Dolen can provide an all-inclusive quote during your consultation.
