Preparation

Dr. Dolen will provide detailed instructions to help you prepare for your Renuvion treatment. These instructions may vary depending on your medical history and treatment plan, and are meant to facilitate a successful and smooth procedure. He may direct you to:

  • Discontinue using blood-thinning medications or supplements.
  • Arrange transportation to and from your procedure.
  • Fill any prescriptions you may need during your recovery.
  • Avoid alcohol consumption for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.
  • Discontinue any smoking or nicotine use at least 2 months in advance.

Procedure

Dr. Dolen performs Renuvion on an outpatient basis, with each procedure taking approximately 45 minutes to 2 hours. The procedure will begin with the cleansing of your skin and the administration of anesthesia.

Dr. Dolen will then create several small incisions near the targeted treatment area. He will insert a small probe into one of the incisions, just beneath the skin. The probe will emit a precise combination of helium plasma and RF energy, causing the skin to contract and tighten without damaging the surrounding tissues. This combination of energy also initiates the natural production of collagen, allowing your skin to continue improving in firmness over time.

Recovery

Recovering from Renuvion is generally quick. You may experience some bruising, swelling, or tenderness in the treated areas. These effects will dissipate on their own, but you may also manage them with a cold compress or over-the-counter pain medications. Depending on the area that Dr. Dolen treats, he may also require you to wear a specialized compression garment for 4-6 weeks.

You will be able to return to most of your daily activities after resting for several days, but you should continue to avoid any physically demanding activities until Dr. Dolen clears you to return.
